Skin a cat/more than one way to skin a cat
This proverb has many forms e.g. 'there are many different ways to skin a cat', meaning that there is more one way of doing things, or there is more than one solution for any problem. It dates from the mid-19th century, and Charles Kingsley's version of it in Westward Ho is quite famous, but rarely used these days, "There are more ways of killing a cat than choking it with cream."
