See the big/bigger picture

Broaden one’s vision to view the entire perspective of a situation or issue is originally American from the early 20th century. Some sources maintain it derives from the earlier days of the movie picture industry when two films or pictures were shown, and the big or bigger picture was the main feature, but this has not been proven.
