Big brother is watching you

The dreadful, so-called reality TV show borrowed the first part of this quotation, which is from George Orwell’s famous novel 1984 published in 1948. Orwell coined this description to represent the ultimate in government surveillance in the totalitarian state portrayed in the novel. It is ironic that Britain today, with its vast network of CCTV cameras, is under more video surveillance than most other countries in the world.
