Chinese cut

An unintentional cricket shot where the batsman attempts to drive the ball on the off side but it takes the inside edge and flies down towards fine leg, narrowly missing the stumps, also sometimes referred to as a French cut, Harrow drive or a Surrey glide. All these expressions are facetious and semi-derogatory because they describe an unintentional cricket shot.
