Would not be caught, found or seen dead…

Almost anything can follow these words because there is a whole universe of situations and things that people find abhorrent and in which they would not be caught, found or seen, even if they were dead. The evidence points to an American origin and whether ‘caught, found or seen’ dead they all seem to date from the late 19th century.
