Wog

Origin of: Wog

Wog

British slang for a foreigner of the darker skinned variety and dates from the mid-20th century. It is most probably not an acronym for ‘wily (or worthy) oriental gentleman’ as some would have us believe. It is more likely to be an abbreviation of golliwog, which is also British slang for dark-skinned foreigners, which dates from the early 20th century.
