Toddler

A child, typically 12 to 36 months old, dates from the late 18th/early 19th century, deriving from the verb to toddle, which is much older, dating from 1600 and means to walk in an ungainly manner like a child. The etymological origin remains unknown but the verb to toddle is thought to be dialectical from the North of England or possibly Scotland.
