Time immemorial

Time immemorial simply means so long ago that it is beyond memory or record. (It is one of the very few phrases in English where the adjective appears behind the noun. Other examples are body corporate and heir apparent.) As a phrase, time immemorial first appeared during the 16th century when it began to replace the earlier expression ‘time out of mind’.
