Things that go bump in the night

Unexplained and unnerving sounds heard at night derives from an anonymous Scottish prayer c. 1800, “From ghoulies and ghosties and long leggety beasties, and things that go bump in the night, Good Lord, deliver us”. Some sources maintain the prayer is originally Cornish or West Country.
