Surfing the Internet

This common and well-known expression that means browsing or searching for information on the Internet was coined by an American librarian at the University of Minnesota. In March 1992, Master of Library Science, Jean Armour Polly, published an article in the University’s Wilson Library Bulletin entitled “Surfing the Internet”, a guide for how to browse for information from this then relatively new resource.
