Short hair/s

Short hair or short hairs are colloquial expressions for pubic hair dating from the late 19th century. To have or hold someone by the short hairs is have control over them. Cecil Rhodes once boasted in 1895, “I have Chamberlain by the short hairs,” referring to Joseph Chamberlain, the British Colonial Secretary at the time. See short and curlies.
