Shampoo

Derives from the Hindi chhampo, which is the imperative form of the Hindi word for press, dates from c. 1762 when shampoo originally meant a rub or a massage. From c. 1860, it came to mean what it means today, a wash and/or hair and scalp massage or a product that does the same thing.
