Punch drunk

A state of befuddlement or disorientation first used in the context of boxing in the early 20th century to describe a boxer who has taken too many punches to the head and is possibly brain damaged. The expression can be used figuratively to describe any state of disorientation. For example, one can be punch drunk from too much kindness or too much television.
