Prang

Origin of: Prang

Prang

Colloquial English for a car crash, in most cases a minor one. The word is Royal Air force slang c.1940 for a crash but also meant an attack on enemy aircraft and is thought to be echoic in origin. RAF fighter pilots really did say, ‘wizard prang’ and ‘wizard show’ for attacks on enemy aircraft that went well. See also wizard.
