Pee/pee-pee

Origin of: Pee/pee-pee

Pee/pee-pee

Originally, this word meaning urination or to urinate was literally the p-word in that it was just written or said as the letter ‘p’ when to say or write piss, for which it stands, was once acceptable back in the Middle Ages. Piss was only deemed vulgar slang from the late 18th century onwards. Within a short while, towards the end of the 18th century, it was being spelt as ‘pee’ rather than ‘p’ and nursery children were saying ‘pee-pee’.
