Nooky/Nookie

British slang for sexual intercourse dates from the late 19th century and probably connected to quiet, shady nooks or corners where such activity might take place. As a word, nooky or nookie made a strong comeback in the 1970s and 1980s and is now almost respectable Standard English, appearing often in print and broadcast media.
