Naff/Naff off

Origin of: Naff/Naff off

Naff/Naff off

British slang for tasteless or inferior dates from the 1930s but made a revival during the 1970s. It is now used in a variety of ways, for example, naff off, which is used as a euphemism for fuck off, possibly because of its closeness to ‘eff’ off. Despite many theories, its origin remains unknown.
