Mr. Watson, come here, I want to see you

Mr. Watson, come here, I want to see you

This is certainly not a famous quotation. Famous last words are usually recorded for posterity, but these, in a sense, were first words and not famous at all, but they should be. They were the first intelligible words ever spoken over the telephone and were said by Alexander Graham Bell to his assistant Thomas Watson on 10 March 1876. Watson was in the next room at the time and Bell records in his notebook for that day, “To my delight he came and declared that he had heard and understood what I had said.” See also Hello.
