May the Force be with you

Origin of: May the Force be with you

May the Force be with you

This is, of course, is the famous catchphrase from the first Star Wars movie (1977) and remains a continual theme throughout all the sequels and prequels. The Force is the spiritual, metaphysical power that permeates the Star Wars fictional universe, and has a good, light side and an evil, dark side. In the movies it carries undertones of a farewell blessing, in the sense of a non-theist version of ‘God go with you’. President Ronald Reagan used the expression, “The force is with us” in outlining America’s “Star Wars” strategic defence system in 1985.
