Magazine

From the late 16th century, a magazine was a general term for a storehouse but very soon thereafter became associated with a storage place for munitions and explosives. It derives from the French magasin, which means shop or storehouse. It was only by the late 18th/early 19th century that it came to be associated with publications, which were perceived to ‘store’ printed articles.
