Loopy

Origin of: Loopy

Loopy

Originally, this adjective was Scottish dialectical for full of loops, twists or turns and therefore deceitful and untrustworthy; in this sense dates from the early 19th century but is not often heard in this context these days. Loopy as in round the bend or round the twist meaning eccentric or mad, dates from the early 20th century and represents the more current usage.
