Hot is also slang for attractive in a sexy way, which lexicographer Jonathon Green dates from the late 19th century, but other sources claim it is more modern and that 'hot girls' and 'hot guys' have been so-called since the 1970s. Google N-grams, which search thousands of books, confirm that hot meaning sexy only began to take off in terms of usage from the turn of the 20th/21st century.
