Go fly a kite

Origin of: Go fly a kite

Go fly a kite

American slang expression dating from the 1940s telling someone to mind his or her own business or that they are of no further use and must get lost or go to hell, probably stems from the sense that flying a paper kite is a pastime of little use or consequence. Not to be confused with Fly a kite. See also Kite/kiting.
