Gamesmanship

This word entered the language with the publication of The Theory and Practice of Gamesmanship written by Stephen Potter and published in 1947. The alternative title was The Art of Winning Games without Actually Cheating. The book sold prodigiously and won undying fame for Potter’s witty, tongue-in-cheek prose.
