Fiddle-faddle

Faddle is simply a nonsensical reduplication of fiddle and fiddle-faddle means to mess about with trivial or trifling matters and dates from the late 16th century, sometimes also used as an interjection meaning ‘Nonsense!’ See also Fiddlesticks.
