Every time a coconut

'Every time a coconut' or 'every one a coconut' is a British idiom that means repeated success at doing something or other. It can be used when successfully potting billiard or snooker balls, or even falling pregnant every time a woman makes love. It derives from the coconut shy at British fairgrounds where balls are thrown at coconuts placed on shallow cups. If you knock a coconut off its perch, you win it. The first citation of the idiom is from the late 1930s.
