Ears are burning

When a person says their ears are burning it means someone, somewhere is talking about them. It is a very old superstition and goes back to at least Roman times. It is mentioned by Pliny in 77 BC. The Romans believed that if the left ear itched or burned, it signified pending evil. If it was the right ear, then it meant good fortune.
