Drop-dead (gorgeous)

Drop-dead gorgeous means breathtakingly beautiful and first appeared in print in The Times, February 1985, in an article about Michelle Pfeiffer. Before that, ‘drop-dead’ as an adjective meaning excellent had been in use in America since the 1960s, and as such could be applied to almost anything - drop-dead fashion, food etc. See also to-die-for.
