Dinky
The OED gives dink as an adjective of Scottish dialectical origin meaning decked out or dressed finely and this usage dates from the early 1500s. By the mid-19th century, dinky was used on both sides of the Atlantic to mean neat, trim or dainty. The origins of both dink and dinky in these contexts remain unknown. In 1934, Meccano introduced scaled down models of motor cars, locomotives etc, which they branded Dinky Toys, stemming from the trim or dainty meaning.
