Chopped liver

Trivial, insignificant, derives from American Jewish informal from the mid-20th century as in, “do I look like chopped liver to you?” Chopped chicken livers have long been part of Jewish cuisine but it is a very cheap side dish or starter hence the connotation of trivial and insignificant.
