Boracic lint

Boracic lint is a surgical dressing saturated in a solution of boracic acid and glycerine that has been in use since the 19th century it is also rhyming slang for broke or penniless from c. 1945, from boracic lint/skint and is often pronounced “brassic”. Skint in itself is also slang for broke.
