Blower

British slang for telephone dates from the 1920s, with reference to the earlier speaking tubes through which one had to blow to attract attention. For slang within slang, there is also rhyming slang, Percy Thrower/blower. Percy Thrower (1913-1988) was a well-known British gardener and TV personality.
