Bloody Mary

A vodka and tomato juice cocktail dates from the mid-20th century, so called because it is blood red in colour. It is also a reference to Mary I of England, notorious for her persecution of Protestants during her reign from 1553-1558 and as a consequence was given the nickname Bloody Mary.
