Berserk

A person who goes berserk displays wild and uncontrollable behaviour. It derives from the frenzied fighting style of Norse warriors called Berserkers who invaded Britain during the 9th century. Despite its ancient origin, the current meaning dates from the early 19th century, according to the OED.
