Badger

To badger is to persistently worry or persecute someone. The origin is from the medieval sport of badger hunting. Badgers defend their burrows fiercely and dogs have to be used to bait them and draw them out. The sport, if one can call it so, helped generate the figurative meaning from 1794 onwards.
